Plan-G / Airspace input error while building database
« on: October 09, 2017, 04:33:55 AM »
Using Plan-G and X-Plane 11.05.

I noticed that the airspaces are being processed now as well when I build the database.

However, I have an error when writing airspaces to the database. I see many airspaces being displayed, but I am missing the airspace(s) around Calgary (CYYC) and Calgary Springbank (CYBW). Appreciate your help with that.

Plan-G / Plan-G using different magnetic deviation?
« on: September 25, 2017, 03:09:43 AM »
I discovered that Plan-G  has different ILS bearings than X-Plane 11.05; the X-Plane ones are correct (for X-Plane that is). Just a few examples:

Nanaimo CYCD 16 ILS bearing is 165o, Plan-G shows 162o.
Springbank CYBW 35 ILS bearing is 346o, Plan-G shows 343o.

It finally explains why I missed the runway when I used the Plan-G ILS bearings.

Tim, do you not use the magnetic deviation table from X-Plan 11.05 when you build the X-Plane 11 database?

Plan-G / Migration Mapbox Editor projects
« on: November 18, 2016, 02:31:54 AM »
I have one Mapbox classic map (style) which I can access with Plan-G (

In an email I received from Mapbox they stated that as from Jan 31, 2017 the classic styles will be read only, and they recommend to convert existing project(s) to the Mapbox Studio.

Rather than converting I defined a new (Outdoors) style in Mapbox Studio. I can look at it in manual mode with my browser. My access token is the same as for my classic map.

My old Mapbox ID is <accountname>.<8-character-code>, but when I use that I get my classic map.

I suspect that my new Mapbox ID is <accountname>.<25-character-code>, but I am not sure. I tried it but got an error 401 on all the tiles. I then defined a second map (style) and sure enough the <25-character-code> was different.

  • Is my assumption of the new Mapbox ID being <accountname>.<25-character-code> correct?
  • Does Plan-G need some internal changes to access the new style maps?

Plan-G / Getting charts from a custom directory
« on: June 19, 2015, 01:14:56 AM »

Charts have to be in .../Plan-G Files/Charts/<ICAO>/ for it to work from Plan-G.

Would it be possible to add an option (for example under the Locations option) to indicate another directory on any of my disks where the charts can be found?

Plan-G / Plan-G breadcrump trail does not match actual flight path
« on: April 04, 2015, 04:19:54 AM »
Plan-G breadcrump trail does not match the actual flight path in X-Plane 10.35.

I started my flight on the runway 16 of CYBW (Calgary/Springbank) and Plan-G showed my plane to the right and well short of the runway.

I rebuilt the database from the latest version of X-Plane.

I vaguely remember reading something about that in this forum, but was unable to find it.

Appreciate some insight.

Plan-G / No new manual for
« on: July 15, 2014, 04:35:39 AM »
Hi Tim,

Version installs just fine and everything works as far as I can see.

However, the user manual that comes with it says "Plan-G User Manual Version 3-1.062 November 2012". I thought that you were waiting for the new user manual before you would do the release?

Plan-G / V3.1 is missing Plan_Gv3 Manual.pdf
« on: March 03, 2014, 03:00:51 AM »

The help/documentation file Plan_Gv3 Manual.pdf is missing from V3.1.0.82.

I copied the one from V3.0.7.71 for the time being.

I am trying to understand the meaning of the negative "Heading oM" in the flightplan as shown.

Plan-G / No instrument approaches in X-Plane 10 (64bits)?
« on: June 11, 2013, 04:09:13 AM »
In the process of learning Plan-G ( I fail to find Instrument Approaches listed on submenus of airports that definitely has them like EGGP (Liverpool) and CYYC (Calgary).

Are Instrument Approaches not available with X-Plane 10 (64bits)?

Plan-G / Cannot print with V3.0.4.59
« on: June 11, 2013, 12:50:04 AM »
I am new to Plan-G.

After creating a flight plan I can save it and export it in X-Plane .fms format. However, I get an error message when I try to print it.

These are the error lines from the Plan-G-_og.txt:
18:30:24.0 Quick Print error: System.ObjectDisposedException: The ObjectContext instance has been disposed and can no longer be used for operations that require a connection.

   at Plan_G3.Model.Print.QuickPrintPlan() in C:\Users\Tim\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\Plan-G3\Plan-G3\Model\Print.cs:line 179

I am very suspicious about the last two lines as my user profile is certainly not C:\Users\Tim...
