Plan-G / Re: Roadway Identifiers Incorrect

Road markings are part of the map, and so not under my control. If the map provider has updated their map imagery, that'll start to come through as tiles expire from the local cache (map tiles are normally cached for around 3 months, although you can purge the cache from within Settings).

BTW, I've removed the email address from your post: it's never a good idea to leave email addresses in public - they will get harvested by all kinds of spam crawlers.

Ok thanks. I'll make sure it gets looked at.

I've googled around, and found a way to fix the problem, although it is a little complicated. The best-explained set of instructions I found is here:

I haven't tried it myself, or experienced the problem either, for that matter. So I'm afraid it's proceed at your own risk, although all you're doing is updating security permissions for one of the built-in worker accounts. It shouldn't have any knock-on in terms of general Internet security.

Nowhere have I found any explanation as to why the problem happens or what causes it. So I'm still in the dark regarding that aspect.

Hope it helps, and if you do try, let us know how you get on.

I've never known a situation where Setup didn't run. All I can really suggest is to try downloading the file again, in case it got corrupted somehow. And if that fails, try running Windows in safe mode.

Ok, so far as I can tell, Plan-G successfully connects to WideClient, but WideClient does not connect to the FSUIPC server. Both FSUIPC and WideClient appear to be up to date and appropriate to the sim version. Building a Plan-G database is not relevant to this problem.

I'm not an expert in FSUIPC, but here are some thoughts from the FSUIPC support forum:

* Check that your Windows workgroup name is the same on both PCs: broadcasts stay in one workgroup
* You may need to add the ServerName or ServerIPaddr and the protocol parameters to the WideClient.INI, as instructed in the user guide (in the section with the red text heading asking everyone to read it!)

Thanks. That's a known issue/unforeseen consequence, and will be fixed in the next build.

Ok, lets go through this step by step.

1. Run FSX and start a flight. Does it say in the title bar "Flight Simulator X with WideServer: waiting for clients"? (this may take a few moments)
If yes, go to step 2.
If no, you have not correctly installed FSUIPC. Install/reinstall it.

2. On your second PC, run WideClient.Does the FSX title bar change from "waiting for clients" to "1 connected"?
If yes, go to step 3
If no, you have a networking problem. Make sure that FSX and WideClient are not being blocked by antivirus or firewall. Also, please attach the log files from FSUIPC (in FSX\Modules) and from WideClient (in the folder containing WideClient.exe)

3. Run Plan-G on the PC with WideClient. Check the Connection settings and make sure FSUIPC is selected. Then click the Connect button. Plan-G should now connect to FSX.

No, but I think something could be done along those lines. I'll look into it.

Index refers to which entry in your simconnect.xml it's going to use. Your file has three entries: 0 is the first one, 1 is the second one, and 2 is the third.

Looking at the port numbers, index needs to be set to 2.

You may need to have three entries in the .cfg too, but I'm not sure about that.

Ok, your Simconnect.xml (which you did not show) needs to be in C:\Users\(me)\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3
and your Simconnect.cfg needs to be in C:\Program Files (x86)\Plan-G v3.2.0

It sounds like you have the files in the wrong places.

(note, I don't actually have v3, so the xml location is based on extrapolating the naming convention, I'm pretty sure it's right though.)

No, because there's no way for Plan-G to tell the difference either - it all looks like AI traffic.

Plan-G's window management hasn't changed since forever, so I'm not sure why you should suddenly see a difference.

Hey John,

Check that you've copied it to the right folder (and that you didn't copy an empty database).

Please send me the ACTUAL FILE that your planner creates! I cannot run tests on a screenshot!!

Your problem is caused by the fact that your planner program uses different navigation data (Navigraph) to that in the sim, so you are referencing waypoints that don't exist. Consequently it's finding the closest match, which may be hundreds of miles off track. I need your file to see if there's a way to ameliorate the problem.

Install Plan-G on your FS PC and build the database from that. You can then copy the database files (My Documents\Plan-G Files\Data) across to the laptop.

Red or blue? Red aircraft are local AI, blue are Vatsim. Red aircraft won't disappear after you disconnect from Vatsim!
